The 560 bed £350m Grange University Hospital opened ahead of schedule in November 2020 with zero defects in time to help the NHS Trust to respond to the winter season pressures and the second wave of Covid-19.

This was made possible using a DfMA approach to which Peikko DELTABEAM® and Column Shoes played an integral part. Working the contractor Laing O’Rourke and the structural engineers WSP Peikko designed & supplied over 550nr DELTABEAM®’s to the project. So, helping achieve the target of over 70% of the components to be manufactured offsite. The use of DELTABEAM® along with Peikko column shoes & anchor bolts allowed for minimal propping making construction both fast & safer. Therefore, playing a major role in the 23% program saving, including over 237,000 working hours.
