A future-proof energy supply for the UK

Hinkley Point C is one of the largest and most significant nuclear power plant projects in Europe and is currently under construction in Somerset, England. The power station consists of two EPR (European Pressurised Reactor) units with a planned total capacity of around 3.2 GW. Once completed, Hinkley Point C is expected to meet around 7 % of the UK’s electricity demand and is set to provide reliable, low-carbon baseload electricity for at least 60 years.

Peikko has been a trusted partner in the Hinkley Point C project since 2017 and is supplying several safety- and design-critical components:

  • Anchor plates (custom-designed)
  • Fire Damper Frames
  • UPN frames

The partnership, which started in 2017, has been acknowledged as a significant success by the construction company BYLOR, as it has ensured a continuous supply of critical components even during periods of major global upheaval – including the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit and the war in Ukraine.
